i’m so upset about the brewery closing in raleigh, north carolina. that venue has been in hardcore documentaries, and even had dirt floors back in the day. that venue is nitty and gritty, in all the right ways. it’s a venue that brings bands like have heart, defeater, and even portugal the man to a closeknit community of teens and adults alike. people didn’t like the brewery because it was dirty, but how often do you find a venue that lets kids stage dive, lets kids mosh, lets all the outcasts feel like they have a home. you don’t. north carolina’s scene needed a venue like that to keep the local music scene alive, and bring bands with passion into north carolina. it’s a sad loss, i hate to see it fall.

three years ago, my family and i were forced to live in a new home. my hometown was (and still is) planning to build a highway that runs through the northern side of town to make transit faster. i loved our house. my whole family loved our house. we had no intentions of ever leaving, it was chock full of memories, great times, and so much character.
unfortunately the time came, and we were forced to move out and soon after the house was stripped and knocked down with a wrecking ball. sure, i cried. it was rough to see it go down.

this is a picture of where my house used to be after the tornado blew through fayetteville this past saturday.

had we not moved, i might not be alive.
never take anything for granted, because it might just be a blessing in disguise.
